Adsense? Is it worth it?

Some say yes, and others say no. In fact I use Adsense on my blogs. I don't feel like it is really worth it if you are only creating a blog to attempt to make money. If you do that, then you are going to lose. There are countless blogs, webpages, and sites that use Adsense. The entire thing about them is that they have content that stands apart from everything else. On a forum there is a lot of different content and opinions. On a blog there are a lot of different articles and content.

The problem is that the ones who claim to be making millions with Adsense claim to do so by setting up countless spam domains and then filling them with content that is specific to certain high paying keywords. The latest one was Melanoma I can't really say why this skin cancer is such a highly sought after keyword. Some say it pays a dollar per unique click. But blogs and sites that capitalize on gaming Google get shut down eventually. Which leads to the owners going on the Google Webmaster forum and screaming about how Google is ripping them off, and how they have a legitimate site.

I've been to some of those sites... In early 2000 those sites could be bought with Adsense coded in to them. The articles were all laid out and all you had to do was upload them to your web space. These were nothing but spam pages that were meant to give information, but more to display the link code to everyone. These sites were later penalized by Google and also started dropping from search engines when the new algorithms came out that removed duplicate content. It was sad to see how many webmasters thought that Google was only out to get them. They should have known that gaming the system would amount to no good in the long run. It's karma.

Blackhat ways of making money will eventually come back and bite you. You know you are doing something wrong, and after a while it will catch up to you.

Domain Buying and Selling: Is it profitable?

Can you make money buying and selling domain names? The short answer is yes. The long answer is that you have to work at it.

If you buy a domain name without researching it, and making up words that are close to a real website the chance of you being able to sell it is slim. You can buy a lot of domains and never sell any of them. The dream is that you will be able to buy a domain like gooooogles.com and sell it to either a prospective buyer or google itself for a lot of money.

The truth is that you may be handed a Cease and Desist letter from the company that you have squatted the domain of. In truth they may be able to just take your domain from you legally as you have bought it with the prospect of selling it back to them at a profit. This actually happened to me many years ago when I first attempted buying and selling domain names. The truth is that I spent thousands of dollars and made about a hundred or so in profit.

I will admit that I was young and inexperienced at the time, but I will also say that I was sure I knew what I was doing. I had bought all the WSO, ebooks, and books on domain name selling and marketing that I could find. The truth is that even after reading everything I was still wet behind the ears and was dreaming of huge profits. I thought that if I found a great domain name I could make thousands. WSO's are structured to give you hope and make you believe that you know all there is to know about the subject. The truth is that they don't always tell you everything, and a lot of what they leave out is that "results will vary". What works for one person will (usually) not work for someone else.

Now, I know you may be asking yourself... Should I get in to domain name buying and selling? I say if you think you know the market then yes. If you are not sure, you might want to take a moment and research a bit more. You may want to check domain name auction sites and do some comparing. See what domains are selling and why.

With any new business research is key! If you do not thoroughly research your new business you could find yourself spending more money then you intended!

Making Money In A Recession: Is It Possible?

In a recession everyone is scrambling to make money. What better way to attempt to make money, but online. No more rat race! No more going to work for a boss that hates you as much as he hates his own job?

Well, if you are like me you have also bought tons of products written by "experts". These so called experts all seem to rehash the same tired information! It is usually one of the following... Affiliate commissions (usually using Amazon, ClickBank, or Commission Junction), list building and then selling that list, attempting to write your own e-book to sell through ClickBank.

Not everyone is market savvy as these folks, and they know it. They know that they can sell you this information, and then you'll never use it. I have heard of people wasting a lot of money on PLR articles to attempt to build their own keyword niche site.

But now, I will tell you that these programs don't work. Have you ever watched a weight loss commercial? Have you paid attention to the small print when the woman in the size 2 dress tells you how she went from a size 18 to a size 2 in just 3 months? The small print usually says something along the lines of "results not typical".

So, you say what about the ones who have reviews? Well, as the results are not typical. There is also a line at the bottom of some commercials that reads "some actors are paid for their participation". Many reviews are either written by the sellers, or they have paid the buyers a fee to say something nice about it.

Is it dishonest? Yes. Is it unethical? Sure it is. Is it legal? Yes, there's no law about it online. There is truth in advertising for the media... But so far the internet is fair game. You have to weed out the good from the bad. The thing is... Sometimes it is very hard to do.

I'm not going to teach you how to avoid scams, but instead I'm going to tell you how to make money online.
